Do you pray over your meals? If so why? If not, when did you stop and why?

to answer my question, no i do not pray over meals anymore exept for when i am with other jws i do a 15 second head bow for appearances sake.

i just came to the realization god had nothing to do with whether i ate or not.

many believers are starving right now whilst many non-believers are eating like kings.. also why should god give me food while he lets little children in dprk concentration camps starve to death.

Angels and Women - A review

i first found and read this book as a young man during the early 1980s while visiting the bethel library.

this library was located at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses in brooklyn new york.

this book exists in its form now because of the interest that religion's leaders had in the original work seola, from where this book was adapted.

Jim Rizolli was a fellow apostate on another discussion board a few years ago, and he told about how an elderly JW woman he knew gace him a CASE ofthe old books. He digitized it and sells a reprint in hard-copy or kindle on Amazon.

The "Bible Students" still exist today, and they still believe everything that Chuck Russell taught. The have the "present truth" versions of all Pastor Chuck's books available online and in hard copy at very low prices.

If you are looking for VINTAGE Chuck Russell prognostications, eBay and patience are your best allies. Sometimes people dump "estate sale" WT libraries without knowing that some items have collector's value because of the aged-in-the-bottle bullshit they contain.

If you are ambulatory, you might want to wobble in to some of your local charity outlet stores if you have some in your area. They can also be a source of "estate sale" libraries, because Jehovah's Witnesses, contrary to their prophecies have not stopped dying - but of course they have the hope of a ressurrection. (fat chance!)

i heard my witness friend that if the name jehovah is the incorrect pronounciation from the hebrew scriptures, then jeremiah is the incorrect way to say jeremiah's name.

i wonder if this is true, because if it is, that would make jws the true religion.

right?.

Eulogy for My Father

mst, duane floyd checketts, 77 died in his sleep due to complications from pneumonia.

he is survived by his wife bette and two children, douglas checketts, patty smith, and 8 grandchildren.. duane, who was fondly called duke by everyone who knew him was born in farmington, utah on march 8, 1924. his father floyd, was one of 10 children raised in a tiny house built by his own mormon father who immigrated in the early 1860's from birmingham, england.

Kari, as I'm sure you know, Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate THANKSGIVING either ...AND YET when Thanksgiving rolls around, LOTS of JWs "take advantage of the sales and the time off from work" and have turkey dinners while their pagan neighbors are celebrating Thanksgiving.

So it is with VALENTINE'S DAY. This is the time of year that a person can "take advantage of the availabilty and the sale prices" to get a big, heart-shaped box of chocolates, or a big bunch of flowers.

If your guy wanted to bring you chocolates and flowers, Jehovah himself couldn't prevent him from doing so.

Watchtower Society copyright activity

i have heard that the watchtower society occasionally takes action under copyright law to either close down a website, or get it to remove the offending material.. some websites (like jwfacts.com, quotes-watchtower.co.uk, and even in some threads here) include a host of images taken from watchtower publications that depict (among other things) armageddon.

are these websites infringing watchtower society copyright by displaying their images?.

if yes, has the watchtower society attempted to have these sites either closed down or the images removed?.

It isn't so much that Copyright Law is unclear - the problem is that the law changes over time and the law applies to publications written while a particular version of the law was in effect.

Most Watchtower publications printed before 1970 were printed WITHOUT a copyright notice and under the law then in effect, those publications went automatically into the Public Domain. I believe this apparent "oversight" on the part of the Watchtower was likely due to the Watchtower believing their own "end of the world" hogwash.

After approximately 1970, the Society "lawyered up" and began looking to protect their vulnerable areas - and NOTHING hurts the WTB&TS more than their old publications.

The current copyright law was altered by Senator Sonny Bono and others in the entertainment industry to provide much longer protection (about a century, if memory serves). The WTB&TS is VERY happy to take advantage of Caesar's protection.

Many apostates believe that information about the WTB&TS should be free, so they take advantage of the copyright law's "fair use" provision and sometimes defy the law in the interest of human freedom.
